Jim

Jim has been a certified yoga teacher since April 1992 and his teachings are based on that experience. Orbiting around familiar Modern Postural Yoga, breath-work and meditative techniques, these classes will instil key foundational principles grounded on which your true expressive potential in yoga can soar.

Listening/responding: Paying attention to how your body feels and adjusting.

Non-violence (ahiṃsā): Being kind allows us to know but not be caught in our experience.

Honesty (satya): Being real about what you can do right now without ignorance or repression.

Investigation (ehi paśya): Exploring each movement curiously like a scientist.

Trust in wisdom (pratibhā): Believing in your body’s natural, intuitive intelligence.

Traditional teachings expressed in a modern context (saṃtāna): Teachings from the Haṭha, Tantra, Vedānta,  Buddhist and Jain traditions are made relevant to your practice as you practice.

Development of safe methods of practice: Jim will guide you into time honoured practice approaches in āsana, breathwork and other yogic techniques.

How to use postures to enter yoga: The postures are not the yoga but instead a portal to the yoga “a direct experience of interdependence that releases the mind from clinging”.

New students and those wanting to know exactly how deep the rabbit hole goes will benefit equally from Jim’s decades long practice experience.
