Emma first discovered yoga at the age of eight years by copying her mother’s daily headstands. Now a mother of two girls, Emma is passionate about bringing mindful and joyful yoga to children and families. Inspired by her teachers in Vinyasa Flow, Clare Missingham and Shiva Rea, Emma’s classes for children blend traditional asana, philosophy and creative flow with her love of nature and storytelling to reach children from toddlers to teens.
Having taught yoga in mainstream primary and special needs schools in London for eight years, Emma co-founded Children’s Yoga Tree to make yoga more widely available in schools. She specialises in yoga for autism and runs teacher training courses in Children’s and Family Yoga.
Her classes for young children are filled with animal poses, games for balance and co-ordination and laughter. For older children Emma introduces body and breath awareness through simple flowing sequences that develop confidence and creativity. Emma welcomes children of all abilities to her classes and believes that yoga is an important part of every child’s development.
