Intro to Ashtanga: Ashtanga is a strenuous system of yoga developed by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) which follows a prescribed and challenging set of postures that combine breath with dynamic movement, building strength, flexibility and awareness. The word ‘ashtanga’ is translated as ‘eight limbs’, the yogic path to spiritual liberation outlined by the ancient sage Patanjali in his foundational text the Yoga Sutras.

What to expect:
You will be guided through a 90-minute ‘Primary Series’ and given adjustments and modified versions of postures if necessary. As you harmonise your breath with this graceful flow, becoming more familiar with the sequence, over time your mind will gravitate into a meditative state during practice. All the while, your will become stronger, suppler, and more compassionate.
